Stardust crew visits Charleston

Our friends on Stardust passed through Charleston and stayed long enough for a quick tour of Charleston and a cookout aboard their sailboat. We enjoyed the dinghy ride out to the boat and catching up on the latest. We met them in Saint Augustine last October and have been following their cruising adventures to the Bahamas and now they are headed to Maine for the summer. We wish them luck and hope that they will stay longer next time they are in Charleston.
Rachel, their daughter, gave Hayley and Jack their first conch blowing lesson at sundown. This is a tradition in the islands and the kids had fun trying. Apparently they were successful because someone in the marina returned the call. We were told that it is unusual to hear it in the States but every sundown in the Bahamas you can hear the sound all through the anchorage. Thanks for the visit and we hope you'll come back soon!

Swim team

The kids have been practicing since late April and have made tremendous improvements in their strokes. Hayley is swimming 50 meters this year so it is an adjustment from the 25 meters last year. And, Jack was invited to swim with the 8 and under team at his tender age of 6! So, he is thrilled to be in the more competitive group and is holding his own with the older kids!
